I had a lovely experience at the Highfield. The staff was friendly and quick to assist us, even when the place was bustling. We enjoyed our meals while watching football; the atmosphere was lively and enjoyable. Although we waited a little for our food, it was well worth it—the beef dinner was fantastic. the service and food made for a pleasant family outing that I wouldn't hesitate to recommend.
Bathroom cleanliness needed improvement 😟.

The location was super convenient, making it easy to get to all the attractions. The staff were friendly and really helpful whenever I needed anything, like an extra pillow. Plus, I loved the charming vibe of the public areas; it gave the place a cozy feel.
The room was a bit worn, and the bed wasn’t as comfy as I’d hoped. I also experienced some noise from partying guests and had issues with the shower’s water pressure. a mixed experience—some improvements could really elevate things!

The staff are very pleasant and helpful and the atmosphere is very welcoming.
Going by the name of the Best Western. The locals all know the hotel as Highfield Hotel. Neither the bus nor the taxi knew of the hotel and it was only a couple living close to the hotel knew of the name change.

There were three things that stood out as being excellent during my stay. Firstly, the staff. They were friendly and attentive both on reception and in the restaurant. Secondly, the breakfast. This was fresh, hot and brilliantly cooked, even the scrambled eggs! And finally, the bed, which was massive, extremely good quality and with crisp white cotton sheets.
As we checked in early and our room wasnt ready we were upgraded to an "Executive Room" - Room 1, opposite reception. This was large and it became clear that it was in fact a Disabled Room. The drawback of this was the sink was at about knee height and only big enough for one hand to fit in. Unrelated, there was no hot water in the room in the evening and only hot water coming from the shower in the morning. I would also have liked to have had a suitable work surface on which to put the hospitality tray which was neatly tucked away in the wardrobe.

A Pleasant Stay with Surprises
During my trip to Middlesbrough, I had eagerly planned to visit the magnificent Tees Transporter Bridge, which was a short distance from my accommodation. I specifically chose Highfield for its proximity to this iconic landmark, and I'm glad I did! While I expected a straightforward stay, I was pleasantly surprised by the hotel's warm atmosphere and welcoming staff. I indulged in their mouthwatering chicken goujons, deliciously coated and served in brioche buns—they were indeed a fantastic treat after a long day of exploring. The breakfast options, particularly the menu featuring items like warm waffles with a generous helping of maple-flavored syrup, made my mornings good.
Minor noise from the pub below.

Quite centrally located hotel - nice entrance hall and stairwell and decently decorated breakfast room - shame about the rooms
Room was very tired looking - wall paper peeling in a number of places, curtains not attached to rail (clip was actually on the window sill)/ Bathroom had one wall light which was very dim especially when in the shower and mould around the bath seal. Breakfast on the first morning took 20mins to arrive and the order was wrong - then took another 10 minutes. The second day's breakfast arrived as ordered but the mushrooms and tomatoe were stone cold - very poor buffet display

Really big bed in double room with iron/ironing board, a coffee/tea maker and a work desk. Comfortable location in a secure area right by the Highfield where the staff were very accommodating especially the night porter and M'boro town centre.
